Boston Poet Tea Party — Thanks — Now and Laters — Goodbye

Thanks to  Jim Behrle, Michael Carr, David Kirschenbaum, John Mulrooney, and Aaron Tieger, who organized a three-day extravaganza. I got to hear a lots of new-to-me poets, and enjoyed myself immensely.

Thanks too to everyone who purchased a copy of Now and Laters. If you weren’t at the Party, but want a copy of Now and Laters for yourself, they’re available at lulu.com until the end of the month. CLICK HERE

At the end of the month I’ll de-list Now and Laters, to make way for another collection of new and selected poems, tentatively entitled AIN’T GOT ALL NIGHT. Watch this space for more details.

Robert Head Poetry Blogspot

I got a postcard in the mail from the sage of Lewisburg, Mr. Robert Head:

the Creek & the Choctaw did many things
but they never drilld a hole in the Mississippi Canyon.

the oil is already at Oranj Beach Alabama
& is working its way eastward to Appalachicola Bay
hwer 90% of Florida’s oysters liv
& then on to St. Mark’s Wildlife Refuge
hwer my father took us to look at the birds

St. Marks was talkt away from the Spanish
by Andrew Jackson hoo told the commandr
that they were on the same side
against the “Indians” & the “free Negroes”

i believe it was about 1830
that the Choctaws signed away their land
east of the Mississippi to the “United States”
either that or a bullet in the head

so mile by mile the united states
extended its sovrinty to the Gulf

That same postcard also announced that Robert and Darlene are posting poems online now at head-fife.blogspot.com. Do check it out, y’all. Thanks –

PS additional kudos to Deez Beez Letterpress of Hillsville, Virg., for a good-looking postcard.

Brooklyn Cancelled

Tim’s had to evacuate his apartment on really short notice due to a health hazard in the building. So the August 1st reading at Unnameable Books has been cancelled, ugh.

But don’t let this be a total loss for you: order the copy of Now & Laters you were going to buy at the reading, and sit tight until we get a rescheduled date listed here at buckdowns.com

Reading in Boston, reading in Brooklyn

I’ll be reading at the Pierre Menard Gallery in Cambridge as part of the Boston Poet Tea Party Friday night, July 30th. It’ll be three days of readings by poets from Boston and elsewhere, and you can check out the whole schedule here.

Two days later, Sunday August 1st, I’ll be Brooklyn to read in the EOAGH Reading Series. That happens at Unnameable Books, 600 Vanderbilt Ave. Here’s a link to info about Unnameable Books, and here’s one to Tim Peterson’s blog, which will tell you more about EOAGH.

I’ll have copies of Now and Laters at both readings, of course, but why wait? Click on the link and order a copy right now.
