postcards

Mostly the raw material in the hopper comes out in processed form as post cards. Since sometime in late 1993, I have kept a mailing list and sent out a monthly poem on a post card. The list has grown from a handful of friends to a couple hundred people.

Here’s a couple of cards that have come back with some nice postal smudges:

It’s what they call a free subscription; if you want to get on the list, send your address by clicking here.

    Hey Buck–

It’s Joe Hall from Cheryl’s Gone. I’m in Indiana now, with Cheryl. We’ll be here awhile, so a postcard subscription is in order.

Buck, I’m sure you don’t know who I am but I took your english class at LSU in 1988, in fact I still have and from time to time read some of the stories and poems from the text you put together for us. My son needed some help writing a paper for school so I gave it to him to read, it helped so it is still very useful and relevant. Thanks

    Hey Buck,

Have been meaning to write about the postcards for a while. “willfully / feverishly / we come –” is a brilliant conclusion to the “get pretty much into that good night” poem, as is the conclusion of “even taster,” with its “and whose legs / are these, anyway” sign off. I like the way your poems build to a conclusion upon which the semantic intent of the text hinges. A pleasure to receive. Thank you.
